Hire Developers
Hire .NET developers for ASP.NET Core builds and migrations
AMT's .NET developers build and maintain ASP.NET Core APIs and enterprise applications, and move .NET Framework and older .NET estates onto supported versions. If you run .NET 8 or .NET 9, both lose Microsoft support on 10 November 2026. Hire one .NET developer into your team or several, with an AMT technical lead accountable for their work.

The .NET version check
What you run decides who you should hire. Support dates are from Microsoft's .NET support policy, checked 9 October 2026.
| You run | Microsoft support | What your developer must have done before |
|---|---|---|
| .NET Framework 4.x (Web Forms, WCF, WinForms, WPF) | Latest release is 4.8.1 (August 2022). Follows Microsoft's Component Lifecycle Policy. New platform features ship in modern .NET only | A Framework to modern .NET migration, including System.Web removal |
| .NET Core 3.1, .NET 5, 6 or 7 | Out of support | The same upgrade path, usually with fewer blockers |
| .NET 8 (LTS) | Ends 10 November 2026 | A version upgrade with dependency and test checks |
| .NET 9 (STS) | Ends 10 November 2026 | The same upgrade to .NET 10 |
| .NET 10 (LTS) | Supported to 14 November 2028 | Current target for new work |
Three things that turn an upgrade into a rewrite
- ASP.NET Web Forms does not run on modern .NET. The UI has to be rebuilt, typically in Razor Pages, MVC or Blazor.
- WCF services have no server-side equivalent in modern .NET. The options are the community-maintained CoreWCF project, or moving the contracts to REST or gRPC.
- Packages that never moved past .NET Framework. Every one needs a replacement or a wrapper before the upgrade can finish.

Five questions to ask any .NET developer you hire
- Walk me through a .NET Framework migration you did. What blocked you? Listen for System.Web, WCF, configuration files and orphaned packages.
- What changed when you moved from Entity Framework 6 to EF Core? Listen for query behaviour and lazy loading, not just syntax.
- Where have you seen async code deadlock, and how did you fix it? A senior developer has a story.
- How do you find a slow endpoint in production? Listen for real profiling and tracing tools, not guesswork.
- How would you add single sign-on with Entra ID to an existing ASP.NET Core API? Listen for OpenID Connect, token validation and scopes.
How AMT keeps it accountable
