Hire QA automation engineers who build tests your team trusts
AMT's QA automation engineers build and maintain automated test suites in Selenium and Playwright, and wire them into your CI pipeline so every release is checked the same way. Hire one QA engineer into your team or several, with an AMT technical lead accountable for test quality, not just test count.
Schedule Technical DiscoveryYour first conversation will be with a senior technical partner, not a salesperson.
Selenium or Playwright?
The tool decides how fast your suite runs and how often it breaks for no reason. AMT engineers work in both.
| Factor | Selenium | Playwright |
|---|---|---|
| Languages | Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, Ruby | TypeScript and JavaScript, Python, Java, .NET |
| Browsers | Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and real Safari through WebDriver | Chromium, Firefox and WebKit (Safari's engine), bundled with the tool |
| Waiting for the page | Explicit waits written by the engineer | Waits for elements automatically |
| Running in parallel | Selenium Grid | Built into the test runner |
| Debugging failures | Depends on the framework around it | Trace viewer, screenshots and video built in |
| Best for | Large existing suites, real Safari coverage | New suites on modern web apps, fast CI feedback |
Rule of thumb: keep a Selenium suite that works. Start new suites in Playwright unless you need real Safari, or you are extending a large Selenium codebase.
What a good QA automation hire does in the first 30 days
Use this to judge any QA automation engineer, from AMT or anywhere else.
- Week 1: audit. Map which user journeys are covered, which tests are flaky, and how long the suite takes.
- Week 2: stabilise. Fix or delete the flakiest tests. A suite nobody trusts gets ignored.
- Week 3: cover what matters. Automate the critical journeys that are still manual: sign-up, payment, the core workflow.
- Week 4: wire it in. The suite runs on every pull request, and failures reach the right person.

Five questions to ask any QA automation engineer you hire
- What do you do with a flaky test? Listen for finding the cause, not adding retries.
- How do you choose locators? Listen for test IDs and accessible roles, not long XPath chains.
- What should be tested through the API rather than the UI? Listen for a test pyramid, with most checks below the UI.
- How do you manage test data? Listen for tests that create and clean their own data.
- What would you not automate? A good engineer has a list. AMT's is on /services/qa-automation-testing.
How AMT keeps it accountable
